Métro Arts et Métiers — steampunk Métro station!

If you're in Paris and you're a fan of old-timey steampunk-esque stuff, then it's an absolute necessity that you stop in at the Musée des Arts et Métiers to check out Avion III, the beautiful bat-shaped plane they've got in there. And then afterward, you absolutely must pop into the Métro station that's just out front of the museum to see the amazing old-timey submarine-like decor. Featuring riveted copper walls, big useless gears, and lots of little displays portraying miniature scenes of 19th-century exploration and navigation, this place is like a surreal Jules Verne-inspired daydream.

Métro Arts et Métiers is located across the street from the museum entrance (here's a map). Two different Métro lines are accessible at this station — lines 3 and 11 — but you definitely want to head towards line 11, as the other line just has the normal white-tile decor that almost all Paris Métro stations share.

Have fun!
