Smooshed-head guy in the Cimetière de Montmartre

I noticed while wandering past this tomb that there was something not quite symmetrical about this gentleman's head.

I suspect some vandals knocked the metal head off of the tomb one night and it was damaged when it fell, or perhaps there was some lively jumping-up-and-down involved. And then in the morning the caretaker simply placed it back on top of the tomb.
